Intimacy is another word for closeness and is often used to describe the relationship between a husband and a wife, for there is no closer relationship between two human beings. The Bible teaches us that marriage is a picture of the intimacy God desires to have with his people. Nowhere is that intimacy more clearly realized than at the communion table, where the body and blood of Jesus are absorbed into our flesh for the forgiveness of our sins.
