Old Testament Lesson: Psalm 30 (A song for the dedication of the Temple)
Gospel Lesson: Luke 7:31-35 (John the Baptist and Jesus)
Psalm 30 – Which is it? Repent or rejoice? David mourned his sin but greatly rejoiced in his forgiveness. God changed his mourning into dancing. When we view the Cross of our Lord Jesus, we either declare in contrition, “I am indeed a sinner if it took the shedding of the Blood of Jesus to forgive me.” Or we declare with great joy, “Wow, because of the shedding of the Blood of Jesus my sins are truly forgiven.” It’s one or the other. Repent or rejoice! You dare not just sit there!
