We’ve all heard the clichés: Patience is a virtue. God’s timing is not our own. Grant me patience, Lord, but hurry! No one likes to wait, especially when the wait seems to never end. But waiting is hardly a foreign concept to God’s people! From Abraham and Sarah waiting years for their child, Isaac, to the whole nation of Israel anxiously anticipating the promised Messiah, God’s people have certainly been called upon to put their confidence in His timing. In seasons of waiting, we can turn to God’s Word for wisdom. To reflect on what our Lord has to say about waiting, read or listen to this devotion from Lutheran Hour Ministries and seek to follow this command issued in Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
