New Testament Lesson: II Peter 1:1-9 (Controlled by Christ)
Gospel Lesson: Luke 6:27-36 (Turn the other cheek)
Today we look at the final fruit of the Spirit – self-control. For a Christian, self-control really means Jesus is in control of your life; your heart, mind, body and soul. Being controlled by Jesus means enjoying the rich and abundant blessings of life, but not in excess or in ways God does not intend. When people live under the control of Jesus, good fruit is produced in abundance and evil is rooted out and pushed back. For the Christian, being controlled by Jesus happens at the cross, where Jesus delivers us from sin, and in response we give our lives to Him.
