First Gospel Lesson: Matthew 26:31-35 (Jesus predicts Peters denial)
Second Gospel Lesson: John 21:15-17 (Jesus reinstates Peter)
Of the 12 disciples of Jesus, Peter was easily the strongest leader – usually the first to act, not afraid to speak his mind, the risk taker. But along with being the first to act, can come regrettable mistakes. In spite of his blunders, Jesus called Peter to be the leader of the 12, and after Jesus rose from the dead Peter was the first to proclaim Jesus as the rise Son of God, the Savior of the world. What a great lesson for Christians today – God’s grace can cover any sin. Better to try, fail, and keep trying, than to never try at all! Jesus tells us to GO – and make disciples.
