Today marks the traditional celebration of Pentecost – the “Birthday of the Church.” 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead; 10 days after He ascended into heaven, God sent the Holy Spirit in an extra powerful and special way to begin the ministry and mission of the New Testament church. The mission Jesus has given the church is to tell the whole world the story of salvation – the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. That Gospel story is the means that the Holy Spirit uses to enter people’s hearts and lives. May that Spirit fill your heart and our church today!
