Old Testament Lesson: Isaiah 43:1-7 (Israel’s only Savior)
New Testament Lesson: Romans 6:1-11 (Dead to sin, alive in Christ)
Gospel Lesson: Luke 3:15-22 (The baptism of Jesus)
Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. Jesus’ baptism wasn’t to wash away any sins, because He is sinless. His baptism revealed to mankind that He is God’s “anointed” Savior. The word anointed, Christ in Greek and Messiah in Hebrew, was a designation of being God’s promised Savior from sin. May the Holy Spirit open your eyes to the reality of God’s anointed one – Jesus!
