Lot, Abram’s nephew, chose to pitch his tent near the city of Sodom where the people were wicked and greatly sinning against the Lord. The city was eventually destroyed with fire and brimstone. God no longer directs such judgment against the wickedness of people today, even though perhaps we wish he would. Jesus chooses to have friends in low places, not to merely hang out with them or participate in their wickedness, but to save them from the consequences of their sin.
