As we decommission the cross collage and continue with our sanctuary remodel, we want to share some of the special stories behind the crosses we enjoyed for the last 5 years. Here is the story behind the Aromando’s TRUST cross.
So I guess it is pretty obvious to anyone that looks at the Aromando Family’s TRUST cross that it looked quite different from the other artistic crosses on the stage. There is a very good reason for that. While my OCD perfective nature wanted to kick in and take over the design of the cross, I knew that there was a much bigger meaning behind it. The cross not only represents the trust that we have in God and our faith but the trust we have in our church and our church family. 8 years ago my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. At that time it would have been easy to turn our back to God and be angry. Our family chose to trust in God’s word and in his plan for our life. It was all or none. We chose to put all of our trust in the one that has never ever let us down. We also learned very quickly to trust our church family at Messiah. The outreach, prayers and support have been overwhelming since day one of his diagnosis. We put a lot of trust in them when we feel like we are slipping off the path, and it never fails us. Every time we need that reassurance or gentle hand to guide us back they are there.
That is why I chose to involve the whole family in making the cross. I let the kids be front and center in planning and executing that design. The result…..our infamous TRUST cross. That cross could have looked a lot different, but it holds a special place in our hearts just the way it is. It represents our trust for God and our love and appreciation for our Messiah family and staff.
