tellmeastory

Jesus was a profound story-teller.  We refer to his stories as “parables” which we have defined as “earthly stories with heavenly meanings.”  Jesus didn’t merely tell stories to entertain his listeners.  He told these stories to prove a point, demonstrate a principle, or simply reveal to the hearers something about the heart of the heavenly Father: what He thinks, how He works in the world, and what He considers to be important.  While set into the context of first century Judaism, these stories have something to say to people of every age.  So we pray, “Lord Jesus, tell me a story.  Help me to listen and apply the story to my own life and circumstances.”
